Searchers from around the world are on the hunt for a $100,000 GoldFosh! That’s right – a GoldFosh! This uniquely designed treasure can be yours if you can solve the clues given in a video released by Max Fosh.

Max is a British content creator, who is famously known for his entertaining, sometime outrageous, yet informative videos on YouTube. He is challenging YOU to figure out the meaning of his clues to claim the treasure! Will you take him up on his offer?

It was a pleasure to chat with Max about this exquisite GoldFosh, and the hunt. Let’s hear what he had to say in the following Six Questions!

Six Questions with Max:

1Q) What a beautiful and incredible Gold’Fosh’- 1700 different gemstones! It definitely makes a great treasure! So, what was your inspiration for creating a treasure hunt? Had you worked on other hunts or puzzles before launching the hunt for the GoldFosh?

I haven’t really tried to solve any treasure hunts before, but I was inspired by stories that I heard about Forrest Fenn’s treasure. And I had tried my hand at metal detecting in one of my videos. So, I came up with the idea that I would hide a briefcase containing £10,000 cash in a briefcase somewhere in the UK. It’s pretty scary hiding a briefcase full of cash! When I created the first hunt about a year ago, I had about 250,000 subscribers. A year has gone by, I now have 1,340,000 subscribers, a lot of them have not experienced the magic of a Max Fosh treasure hunt. And I just felt like doing another, bigger hunt – global.

2Q) Please share how one can get involved in the treasure hunt. Also, does a searcher have to physically travel to find it buried somewhere? Or what does a searcher have to do to claim the diamond and sapphire studded GoldFosh?

I’m fortunate to have a wonderful mix of subscribers from all over the globe, and when I created my last hunt, it was difficult for many of them to participate because it was set in the UK. So, this time, I wanted to devise a way that anyone, anywhere in the world, could have the excitement of not only solving the puzzle, but claiming the prize. All you have to do to win that beautiful and valuable fish is to follow the instructions in my song. It’s no secret that to claim the prize, you have to find a certain person, and communicate the words “In the name of Max Fosh, dish out the fish!” to them. How you communicate is up to you to find out. It could be as strange as doing a silly dance, using a squeaky voice, posting on a Tik-Tok video, or it could just be talking to someone. The “Keeper of the Secret” could be the person next to you on the street, an Emperor or a monk in a monastery high on a mountain in Tibet. The whole world is full of possibility. I would like people to feel that excitement. Obviously, the vast majority of people won’t be able to claim the fish, so it’s about the adventure along the way.

3Q) Are all the clues needed to solve and claim the treasure within the Video itself? Or do clues within the video lead to other items to follow, possibly research or whatever, in order to discover exactly how to claim the treasure?

The song should be enough for you to know “who to ask and how”.

4Q) There are lots of searchers already saying ‘I know where it is!’ What are your thoughts about this? Are you expecting it to be found within just a few days? Could it be? Or are you thinking it will take weeks, months, or even years to solve the clues? What is the expectation on the timeframe for the hunt?

That’s exciting that people may have solved it already! I am learning that there are some amazingly bright and experienced people out there, I am fairly new to treasure hunting so I am constantly surprised and impressed (but I am just as impressed by all the people coming up with fun and inventive and sometimes silly ways to go about winning!) It may be found within a few days, or it may take a few months. But I certainly hope that it doesn’t take years. It’s supposed to be a fun hunt, and to keep the momentum going, I may drop a hint from time to time to speed things along, so watch out on the comments section on the song’s Youtube video, or Reddit, or Discord.

5Q) Does one have to be an expert in cryptography or genius to solve the clues? Or do you feel the average guy or gal can claim the prize? Can you offer any advice on how a searcher should start picking apart the video for clues?

The hunt has been created so that even a six-year-old could win. It’s not particularly cryptic, but you might find that there are some clever ways to help you to know when you have the right answer. I’m hoping that a person who just happens to have the right thing pop into their mind will be able to work out who to ask and how.

6Q) For those of us coming to you for the first time via this hunt, please share more about yourself, and your YouTube Channel. Will you be revealing other clues to the treasure in your future videos or elsewhere? Or do we have all we need right now to find the treasure?

I think I’ve answered the second part above, oops! The channel has evolved to the point where I realised that my best/favourite things were those that were Silly to the Max. And I guess to some, it’s pretty silly to take a $100k treasure and make it available so that anyone in the world can claim it, with just a little thought and effort!
